Twycross Zoo Promotional Video

This video was produced as part of my Negotiated Study for University, with the module involving working with a client in a feedback role. The project began back in October 2007 with the deadline set for early April 2008. The client (Kim Riley) requested a video that showed entertainment for both adults and children. I used both After Effects and Premiere Pro, recording my footage with the Canon XM2 camcorder. The total length of the video is 1:53. Overall I am very pleased with the outcome as this was my first project using After Effects, i learnt alot about the program and hope to use this experience to improve for future projects. Kim described the video as “clean, fresh, catchy and informative” also giving me tips for how i could of improved. The music track is fully licensed and suits the video well. The start of the video consists of text, a monkey logo and a long rectangular solid. The Monkey is keyframed to move across the solid knocking the 'o' off the end of 'zoo'. The 'o' is then keyframed to drop down off the solid bouncing off the next piece of text and into position for the next scene. A flourish then comes out of the center of the 'o' giving the 'o' an important role within the start of the video. Twycross Zoo's main logo has the monkey tail forming the shape of the 'o', which is what gave me this idea. A monkey silhouette then swings into the real zoo footage to link the motion graphics to the video. I thought this worked perfectly. The rest of the video shows various footage of all the different animals that live at the zoo. It keeps the same style of decorative flourishes and scenery with different variations to obtain a clean, consistant structure.
